(ABC 6 News) – A dog owner in Austin is scared for his pet’s life after he found raw meat wrapped in rat poison in his backyard.

The owner, Mark Hanson, says it’s rat poison stuffed with raw ground beef and they look like dog treats. Hanson says he found 12 of those treats in his yard Sunday, Jan. 15.

He thinks someone threw the poison into his fenced yard to try and kill his dogs. He has 3 great Danes and says in the 40 years he’s been raising Great Danes. No neighbors have ever had any issues with them.

“I’m now having to worry every day I let the dogs out. I have to step outside with them and watch them so that they don’t pick up anything. I’m gonna find them. I’m gonna find them eventually here,” Hanson said.

He has no idea who could want to hurt his dog and said he hasn’t found any footprints.
